Celebration of Youth 2008: Harlequin Theatre, Redhill on 9th July 2008

“Surrey County Council and Surrey Primary Care Trust have just published their revised “Draft Interim Strategy for Working with the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector”. The document began as the Surrey CC voluntary sector strategy, and was the subject of fairly critical comment at consultation events at Dorking Halls and Leatherhead. It is now much modified, and more realistic. It commits both Surrey CC and Surrey PCT to working in close partnership with the voluntary, community and faith sector. It covers the key issues of funding/ procurement, infrastructure bodies, engagement, and volunteering.

It is worth a read!”

Open Forum: presentations from the Open Forum on 4 Mar 08 available here.

Surrey Primary Care Trust (Janet Lambley) has produced a very informative “Assessment of Childrens Needs in Surrey, December 2007”. The report is very long – some 147 pages, and maps the needs of children and young people age 0-19, against the five Every Child Matters outcomes. It was submitted to the Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership on 21 Jan 2008, where it was warmly welcomed.

There is a wealth of statistical analysis which could be invaluable for CVYS members submitting grant applications, and needing supportive evidence. The report also includes evidence of the extent to which young people contribute to charities, both financially and practically. This is likely to be an invaluable reference document for many CVYS members.”
