Open Forum Papers

We held a successful Open Forum meeting on Tuesday 4 March at the St.John Ambulance Hall, Dorking which was attended by some 31 people.

The speakers included Peter Rubie from St John Ambulance, who spoke entertainingly about St John’s courses, and training for young people.

Chief Inspector Colin Green from Surrey Police spoke about links between neighbourhood policing and the positive activities for young people which the voluntary sector can offer.

  1. Common Assessment Framework (CAF): presentation by Christine Pickering, CAF Project News, Project Team Contacts and Training Courses.

  2. Independent Safeguarding Authority: presentation by Heather Croucher on the new system starting in the Autumn whereby in addition to CRB checks new workers with young people will have to be registered with the ISA.

  3. Surrey CVYS : Focus for 2008/09 Consultation: presentation by Mike Abbott on the suggested focus for Surrey CVYS in 2008/09.
