Surrey Care Trust
The Surrey Care Trust is an education and welfare
charity giving practical help to people facing hardship and also providing
life-changing opportunities to people of all ages through training and
education. STEPS are a range of programmes dedicated to young people at
different stages of their lives. Our STEPS School Inclusion courses motivate
young people who are disruptive or unhappy in school. Our STEPS Under 16s centre
is an alternative to school giving a second chance to 14 to 16 year-olds who
have never fitted into the mainstream system. STEPS Lifeskills is a course for
the post-16s group and can lead either to employment or further education. We
also provide a free STEPS counselling service for 16 to 25 year-olds and run
Prince’s Trust Teams in Redhill and Woking. Prince’s Trust Team brings together
young people from different backgrounds to help them gain new skills and
experience while carrying out valuable work for the local community.
The Trust’s family and community education
programme, FACE, also works with young adults from the age of 16.
The Trust is a lead partner in the Surrey Youth
Inclusion Project, a consortium of 6 Surrey organisations working to engage
young people in education and training.
In addition it runs the Swingbridge Community Boat,
providing skills development opportunities for offenders and for volunteers who
carry out conservation work on local waterways.
