Aims
 |
To provide facilities as a national, voluntary youth
organisation, uniformed and non-uniformed. |
 |
To give young people some preliminary/basic first aid and
care training, some of them go on to take up careers in the medical
profession. |
 |
To provide new members for our adult units. |
 |
To teach first aid in schools. |
Badgers
 | Our Junior Section for children aged 6 to 10 years. They
meet weekly and work through a varied badge scheme. The annual programme
includes a camp, competitions and activity days. |
Cadets
 |
Mixed groups aged from 10 to 16 years who meet weekly and
work through the badge scheme towards our highest award the Grand Prior’s
Award. Subjects covered are very wide ranging and include Care, Emergency
Care, Communications, Leisure, Life and Social Skills and Knowledge of The
Order of St. John. |
 |
Opportunities to carry out Public Service duties with adult
members. Inter unit First Aid and Care Competitions leading to National finals
for the winners. Inter action with other youth groups. |
 |
We operate a Links scheme for young people at Universities
all over the country. |
 |
Young people over the age of 16 years have the opportunity
to join the adult units and put their training into practice. |
Services Available to Other Organisations
We are able to train other youth group leaders in first aid.
We are able to train young people participating in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
scheme in first aid and offer them community service.
