Good News in Guildford Trust

The Trust is the vehicle of a number of Guildford Churches, to interface in a variety of ways with the local community and its needs. A major activity is our provision of Relational Workers employed by the Trust, to Guildford Secondary Schools.

Relational Workers act as “adult friends” to the pupils, being in the school but not part of its structure, and liaising with staff as necessary. Their “listening ear” is available for any pupil, and the range of problems they help with is wide, giving encouragement, support and a self-worth. They are not Counsellors, and refer pupils when necessary to more specialised persons.

The Relational Workers also lead or facilitate many group activities – like football coaching, drama, community work, awaydays, Christian Unions etc. They are part of “The Network” of Youth Workers within Guildford who meet to support each other. Two of our Relational Workers are Connexions Personal Advisers.
